We Believe...

..that the solution to inequality, pain, suffering, and lack in the world is ‘those that have’ sharing willingly from the heart with ‘those that have not’ who are sick and/or needy.

Warm clothing and bedding for babies, quilts for the aged or ill, books for the disadvantaged, essentials and household goods for those who have lost everything in floods, house fires, or due to job loss; these are just some of the need we assist with. You can help.

Relief Share donations make hospital emergency room trips better for sick children.

Emergency Room visit

Relief Share volunteers have been having a ball taking donations to the hospital for the sick and needy children. It is so much fun to see the children’s eyes light up when given a stuffed animal, toy or coloring book to take their mind off what is going on.

One of the little boys in the ER waiting room had a bandage over part of his face and a breathing mask on.  He looked pretty dejected until one of our volunteers asked his Mum if we could give him a treat.  Our Relief Share volunteer had her arms full of stuffed animals and toys – she let him choose the one he wanted, and then gave him a coloring book with crayons to help pass the time and distract him from how much he hurt while he waited for additional treatment.  There were tears in his Mum’s eyes, and the volunteer was so grateful for the opportunity to bless the little life of the boy she gave a hug to.  In all the years I have been running charities, I never get ‘used to’ seeing how much simple things can bless other’s lives, and I am always grateful for volunteers, like this one, who will take a few moments of their time to bless someone else’s life and let them know they are loved and cared about.

There were other children in the ER who loved their new cuddly stuffed toy to snuggle with.  They forgot about what was wrong and how bad they felt when the nurses or doctor gave them a soft toy to make a traumatic experience a tolerable one.  Relief Share has been told that some of the children who have received stuffed toys in the ER still have them years later and love them.  It does make a positive difference to provide comfort toys to the sick and needy.

Relief Share also provides warm blankets, hats, scarves, pacifiers, and other essentials to emergency rooms to help the hospital provide for the patients. You can help by sending coloring books and crayons (the #1 most asked for item in the ER by the nurses to keep children calm and busy) and new stuffed toys with tags still attached (the most asked for item from sick children), books and other toys are very helpful as well, especially for children who experience long stays in the hospital for surgeries, etc. Please send donations to Relief Share, 6078 Lundy Rd., Houston, MO 65483-2225. Include your name and mailing info so we can send you a thank you letter/tax deductible receipt for your donation.
